6. SOP Length : 300 - 450 Words (SOURCE: Seniors)
The personal interview for each HR candidate lasted for 15-35 minutes approximately. The panel expects a student to be socially aware and have a sound knowledge about their under grad curriculum.
If the student has work-experience, most of the interview questions revolve around his current occupation and the understanding he has about the industry and the organisation that he works for.
Your hobbies are also deeply probed by the panel, leaving a candidate little or no room to give false or pretentious answers. For example: A student who mentions reading as a hobby is expected to have read a vast array of books and needs to have deeper perspective about the issues touched upon in all that he has read so far.
The candidate is evaluated on the personality that he carries, the understanding that he has developed about the professional working environment, and the reasons why he has chosen to develop a career in the field of HR.
The panel for GD and PI are purposefully kept separate and the panel is not aware of the NMAT score of the candidate, avoiding the chance for any bias. This gives the applicants a fair chance at each stage of evaluatio
Tips for GD-PI preparation:
NMIMS interviews generally revolve around current affairs and overall general awareness. The aspirants are advised to read leading newspapers and relevant magazines and thereby develop an understanding and have a point of view on all current situations to elaborate on.
Every student joining NMIMS also has to go through a 3 – week NGO program (compulsory) in the month of January under the 'We Care' initiative and is expected to be sensitive to such social issues. You may also be asked certain questions on social challenges, CSR and issues affecting the societal well-being in general. They evaluate the candidates on the grounds of compassion and sensitivity shown towards such issues.
You are also expected to have an exceptionally clear understanding on your career goals and vision. Maximum emphasis is laid on questions involving your introduction and the goals in your life. Having above average communication skills is an added benefit and every candidate should try and hone the same for the interview process.

For the NMIMS group discussion and interview, anyone with a strong knowledge of current affairs would have been at an advantage. A complete understanding of your self is a an absolute must to succeed in these interviews.
Group Discussion
The group was given two topics to chose from:
Military training should be compulsory for all.
Gender inequality exists in our society
The group chose the first topic. The quality of discussion was good, both in terms of participation and the points suggested by the members. The members came up with a number of international examples and alternatives to military training, such as NCC.
The duration of the GD was 20 minutes.
Interview
The complete focus of the interview was on current affairs. The interviewers asked a lot of question on the latest news, especially news related to the economy.
During the interview, I was given a hypothetical industrial problem. The scenario was:
What would come to my mind if I saw a group of workers talking in a group on the shop floor?
If the group had a problem, would I as a manager try to solve it or leave it as a matter that concerns only the workers?
The general questions were on:
Hobbies
Personal strengths and weaknesses
